Ed Rust Sculpture

Ed Rust lives on the East coast of Yorkshire, near Hornsea. He constructs spindle like 'Giocametti' figures out of wire, wood, paint, and varnish, with a light-hearted or comical take on sporty and outdoor subjects, such as cycling and dog walking.

Ed studied Fine Art at Batley Art College, specializing in sculpture and ceramics. A Career in radio and TV followed by freelance teaching, creative writing, computer art, video production and online book publishing meant Ed had little time to spare to make sculpture. With retirement, Ed has rekindled his long lost love affair with all things 'sculptural and arty'. Ed says:

“Eventually in 2013 I enrolled on a stone carving course in Lincoln, thinking it might be mildly interesting, and I’m happy to say the bug really got me. From that point on all, I could think about was sculpture, and when I wasn’t chipping limestone and marble I was twisting wire and making quirky wire sculptures which friends loved and wanted to buy. A gallery just down the road from where I now live heard about the wire sculptures and asked if they could sell them. And that was the beginning of a brand new career…..”
