
Iain Faulkner was born in Glasgow in 1973 where he was raised and educated. He graduated from Glasgow School of Art in 1996 with a BA (Honours) Degree in Fine Art. From the onset of his professional career, the fashionable and trendy routes of contemporary and conceptual art, adopted by many of his many peers, was not an option. He chose instead to follow the more difficult and demanding path of figurative painting wherein clear, concise yardsticks of competence, draughtsmanship and painterly skills can be measured and judged, warts and all.
Iain was asked last year by Colin Montgomery (He collects Iain's work) to paint individual portraits of the Ryder Cup Team, as a present for themIain worked on these portraits with the players being unaware that he was painting them.Unbelievably they won the cup by one point and each player was given their individual portraits and on the mantle piece in every one was the Ryder Cup.These portraits took Iain the best part of a year to produce.The brochure can be viewed a
